Load-excursion properties

The Basic Properties tab is used to enter key properties to define your Load Excursion link.

Properties of the Load Excursion Links can be either imported from a text file or refer to a Load excursion property type.
You can choose to use the same imported file or load excursion property type for both dynamic and static mode or use different ones for each mode.

The imported text file (.dat format) includes the load as a function of the horizontal and vertical distances between the end nodes of the link.

Note

The Load Excursion file must have been setup through dedicated simulations prior it is being used as an input to Load Excursion Links. these files may be created further to a static analysis featuring at least one mooring line meshed with finite elements by adding a request for mooring files in the Predefined Results.

The data to be defined in this tab are as follows, depending if you choose to use imported files or property types:

Imported files

  • Path and name of the Mooring File: Select the mooring file that contains the load-excursion data relevant for the mooring line that you wish to model as a Load Excursion Link. An example of mooring file with formatting details is provided in the mooring files post-processing section.

  • ID Number: This is the identification number used in the mooring file to refer to the selected mooring line. Mooring files may contain loads data relevant to several mooring lines (e.g. when the mooring file is extracted from a simulation featuring more than one mooring file) and you must therefore select the proper identification number to point on the appropriate set of loads for your mooring line. In case the Mooring File solely contains data for a single mooring file, you may set the ID to 1.
The button can be used to display a graph of the selected file and ID number.

Property type

Breaking load: Breaking load value in newton.
