Dynamic curves requests

Four types of requests are available for the Dynamic curves window:

  • Time Evolution: results will be computed at each time of the specified time step range.

  • Snapshot: results will be computed for all the abscissa of the object at a specified time step.

Note

In case the Snapshot option is activated, only line objects are displayed in the Objects box that lists the components of the model.

  • X-Y Plots: X-Y plots may be drawn for both Time evolution and Snapshot plot types. You must go through the following steps to draw an X-Y plot :

    1. Select the X-Y plot option by ticking the X-Y plot checkbox,

    2. Select X-axis in the Axis selection frame and specify the variable that will correspond to the X-axis (for example X-position along line),

    3. Select Y-axis in the Axis selection frame and specify the variable that will correspond to the Y-axis (for example Y-position along line),

    4. Click the Add curve button to add the X-Y plot into the list of post-processing requests.

  • Envelope (of statistics): results will be computed along the line and for all the time steps of the specified time steps range. Three curves will be plotted :

    • Minimum of all the values along the line

    • Maximum of all the values along the line

    • Average of all the values along the line

Note

X-Y plots are not available for envelopes.

Features:

  • For a line object, a position must be selected either giving an abscissa or selecting a primary point of the object.

  • For a floater object, one can select either the COG or a fairlead.

  • When stress results are requested, it is possible to specify the number of section points distributed along the steel pipe circumference.

  • When line gap result is requested, it is possible to specify the number of control points on the line. The clearance between two lines is indeed recorded at some control points distributed along the lines which number can be specified. Control points are not necessarily similar to nodes along the lines, which allow for more accurate outputs.

  • Once you have selected all the required information, press the Add curves button.

Tip

When requesting a time evolution, it is possible to specify several abscissa and get all curves shown in the same plot, by using the following syntax: Abscissa1 ; Abscissa2 ; Abscissa3 ;

When requesting a snapshot, it is possible to specify several time steps and get all curves shown in the same plot, by using the following syntax: Time1 ; Time2 ; Time3 ;

Tip

In case you want to extract the same type of result for multiple objects of the same type, you can select several objects at the same time by holding the CTRL key pressed.
