Lines Sections
The Lines sections tab is visible only when the Fatigue Analysis option is selected from the Analysis frame in the General tab. The content of the Line sections tab is presented below:
The General tab includes the two following frames:
-
Line parts: the user specifies the considered line, abscissa and fatigue curve. Buttons Add Line Part and Remove Line Part enables to add or delete rows in the table located below.
Note
Lines sections along which the damage shall be calculated may be defined between 2 positions along the line separated with "-" character. For example, "0-200" means that the damage shall be calculated along 200m from curvilinear abscissa 0m.
-
Fatigue Curves: the user gives the path to S-N or T-N curve library. This library contains all parameters to define the S-N and T-N curves available in the Curve drop-down list.
Note
Cells used to specify the Axial and Bending SCF allow to specify either the Default value or user-specified real values with 3 decimals.
In case the user inputs a different value (i.e. when the Default item is not selected), then the stress value considered to compute the stress time-history (in case or Rain-flow counting method) or the stress spectrum (in case of spectral approach) is calculated as follows, depending on the Stress components:
If Stress Components is Axial + Bending, then the stress equals :
\(\sigma = SCF_{axial} \times \sigma_{axial} + \sigma = SCF_{bending} \times \sigma_{bending}\)
If Stress Components is Axial, then the stress equals :
\(\sigma = SCF_{axial} \times \sigma_{axial}\)
If Stress Components is Bending, then the stress equals :
\(\sigma = SCF_{bending} \times \sigma_{bending}\)
where \(SCF_{axial}\) and \(SCF_{bending}\) can be either the Default value (the same value read from the Segment Type window) or the user- specified values.
