Zones Study

This feature allows you to select several critical points or areas along a line and to request automatic post-processing for these parts for a series of different analyses. A major asset is also to request secondary outputs associated with a primary one, for instance, the tension and curvature associated with the maximum angle...

A Zones studies folder is provided in the main GUI window (at the bottom of the model component list). Right-clicking on this folder allows you to create a new zone study.

To begin a new zone study, right-click the Zone Studies folder and choose an option. A properties dialogue will appear for you to define the zone study. Alternatively you can select a new zone study from the Analyses menu. An Extreme zone study can quickly be created by double-clicking on the Zone Studies folder.

The zone study GUI offers two separate options - Extreme and Cyclic. Each is accessed via a separate properties dialogue, which have sub-tabs :

Zones

Variables

Cases

QA data

Results

In these tabs the user defines zones along each line of interest; creates requests to study extreme cases for defined zones and/or creates requests to study cyclic (fatigue) cases for defined zones; and finally selects settings for the display of results during post-processing corresponding to the selected type of analysis. These activities are fully detailed in the Zones Study post- processing sections.

Zone studies can be imported/exported from one .DSK model file to another.

Any Zones Study request may be Edited, deleted, renamed or copied by right- clicking the request from the Model Browser and selecting the corresponding item from the pop-up menu as illustrated below :

Batch commands files can be generated by clicking the Generate Batch menu item. This will create a text-based file (ZS.TXT) given the same name as the Zones Study request. This .ZS.TXT file can then be read in batch mode by the GUI to produce the set of associated results. These batch post-processing jobs can be launched with the Batch Processing form or with .CMD commands files as per the other batch commands for the GUI.

Pressing on the Launch batch menu item will run the post-processing.
