Model components groups
Model components listed in the Model folder of the Model Browser can be arranged into groups of components. Using groups of model components allows easier handling of components included in the group, as they can be all duplicated or included in analyses at once.
Creating a group of components
Groups may be created by right-clicking the Model folder in the Model Browser, and further selecting the New Group item in the pop-up menu.
Groups may also be created by opening the Model menu and further selecting the New Group item in the menu.
New groups are empty when they have just been generated. Groups are given default names which can be changed to reflect the content of the group.
Editing Group content
The list of components included in any Group can be edited by double-clicking the Group in the Model Browser. This display the Edit Group window as follows:
The model components to be included in the Group can be selected by ticking the box located next to the component's name. Multiple selection of Model Components is available by holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys while selecting the components.
The model components which already belong to another group can be identified through the name of the group which is reminded between brackets next to the name of the component. Selecting model components which already belong to another group would move the component from one group to another.
Model components can be removed from the Group by unchecking the box located next to the component's name.
Click OK to update the content of the group and close the Edit Group form.
Click Cancel to dismiss the Edit Group form.
Dragging components into or out of Groups
Model components can be moved into Groups of components by dragging and dropping the components in a group with mouse. Model components to be added in a group must be set in the group one by one (i.e. multiple selection of Model Components is not allowed yet).
Model components that are included in a Group can be moved outside the Group by dragging and dropping them at the desired location in the Model Browser.
Note
Custom components such as Environment Set, Wave Set, tensionner, telescopic joints, and wind turbines cannot be moved into groups. These custom components already display as groups of more simple components.
Note
Groups cannot be moved into other groups. The number of sub-levels in the Model tree is limited to one.
Including Groups into Analyses
The model components included in any group can be included in any analysis within the Edit Analysis dialog. This dialog features a tree showing all Model Components and groups that can be set in the Analysis. Ticking the box next to a group would select all components included in the group, and let them be included in the analysis.
Duplicating Groups of components
Any Group of components may be duplicated by right-clicking on the group and further selecting the Copy item in the pop-up menu.
This command raises the Copy/Paste dialog from which you may select the number of copies to be made.
Note
The links between model components included in the original group are replicated with the model components that are included in the new group.
