Duplicating model components

Model components may be copied and pasted to the model either from the 3D View window or from the Model Browser.

Copy/Paste from the 3D View window :

Select the component to be duplicated by clicking one time on it from the 3D View window. Then use the CTRL+C keys to display the Copy/Paste form.

Copy/Paste from the Model Browser :

Any object displayed in the Model directory of the Model Browser may be copied by right clicking the object and selecting the Copy item from the pop-up menu. The Copy/Paste form displays and enables you selecting whether the connections should be kept unchanged or set to free within the Copy/Paste window.

This behavior of the Copy item associated to the pop-up menu is limited to the objects contained within the Model directory only, i.e. does neither apply to Model Components included in the Type, Analysis Set, Fatigue and Zone Studies directories of the Model Browser.

Model Components such as Waves, Currents, Winds, Wave Sets, Environment Sets, Loadings model components shall be copied directly by selecting the Copy item in the pop-up menu.

Copy/Paste dialog:

The Copy/Paste dialog is illustrated below :

Select first how many copies you want to get.

Select then whether you wish to duplicate the original model component and keep the connections of duplicated components similar to those of the original component, or if you wish not to keep the connections. In this case, connections of the duplicated object will be set free by default.

In case connections of the duplicated model component are left free, then you could define either translation or rotations to be considered to move from the original to the duplicated model component.

Two frames Translation and Rotations show an associated edit box: Translations and rotation of the copied object are only allowed when the connections are set to free.

The Copy/Paste process when the option Set all connections of copied object similar to original object is selected applies to all types of Model Components, except Floaters, Waves, Wave Sets, Currents, Winds, Sets of Environments, Loadings and Displacements. These components are indeed never linked to other components so that they are not concerned with the type of connections when copied.
