Contact parameters

DeepLines can handle a broad range of contact issues through the so-called generalized contact elements. These contact elements can be used tosimulate:

  • Line-to-line external contact - for example clashing between risers,
  • Line-to-line internal contact, also referred to as guide type contact - for example keel-joints, PIP, or contact between the inner and outer barrels from a telescopic joint,
  • Line-to-surface contact - for example riser or pipeline to seabed contact.

This Section provides information on how to use generalized contact for modelling contact between lines and line to seabed contact. It also details all the numerical parameters you have to input when defining a contact. More details about theory may be found by clicking here.
