Calculation parameters

Each analysis in your Model file is characterized by a number of Calculation parameters which principally define the type of analysis and how the solver will work. These calculation parameters may be edited by double-clicking or right clicking the corresponding label within the Model browser, as shown below :

The calculation parameters are split into four tabs as follows :

  • Analysis type: This allows to specify the type of analysis (e.g. quasi-static, time-domain dynamic, frequency domain dynamic, modal or VIV).

  • Floater Motion: This allows you to set a Floater Motion type to each Floater in your model.

  • Lines properties: This allows you to select whether the lines included in the analysis will be given their default attributes (i.e. the attributes defined or selected within the Line component) or if these attributes must be overwritten with other external attributes defined within the fluid type folder of the model browser.

  • Contacts : use this tab to define all the parameters related to contact between lines or other objects.

  • Numerical parameters : use this tab to tune several parameters used within the finite element solution scheme and cable interfacing step.

  • Pretension / Initial angles : use this tab to specify target pretension or vertical angle values at risers connection points - mainly used for mooring analyses.

  • HAWT properties : use this tab to specify HAWT properties (start up table, start up variation table, yaw, yaw variation table, control mode, control options, aerodynamic solver options). This tab is only available for analysis belonging to the default analysis set.
