Drilling risers

The drilling riser line component is used to model drilling risers and is based on a specific segment type named drilling joint. Compared to a generic line, the drilling line is built using drilling joints of a given length each. The number of joints in each line segment is defined and the total length of the segment is then automatically calculated. The drilling riser data form features specific data tab used to define the auxiliary lines and mud properties.

The drilling riser data form includes the following tabs:

  • Structure: This tab defines the line arrangement, including sections and connection of primary section points to other model components. Segment line types can be assigned to segments in the line through this tab.

  • Auxiliary lines: This tab defines auxiliary lines (K&C lines, hydraulics, boosters, buoyancy lines) characteristics are seized in a specific tab.

  • Mud: This tab defines the internal fluid in the main tube.
