HAWT General data

The 'global window' (which remains visible regardless of which sub-tab is being edited) contains the following data fields:

  • Object: This pull-down allows you to select from multiple HAWTs already defined.

  • Name: This edit box allows you to change the name of the selected HAWT object.

  • Heading: Is the heading of the HAWT at t=0. 0deg is the default - positive global X direction.

  • OK/cancel: Be sure to press OK before editing a new HAWT so that the components are created in the Model Browser.

  • Coord. of reference point: This represents the bottom central point of the tower). In order to place this Wind turbine in the space, select the coordinates of the reference point if Linked to is Free (i.e. independent of another object), or "anchored", OR select to which object the reference point is connected to, using the pop-up menus: State\Linked to, Attach point, Connection:

    • State\Linked: all the rigid-bodies and floaters present in the model are avaiable to choose, with Free and Anchored also being options.

    • Attach point: proposes all the valid attachment points available of the selected object.

    • Connection: The connection type must be specified from the usual options: Clamp, pin, user defined (then the Edit connection button is available)
