Flexjoints
Flexjoints are simple components linking two nodes from the global model through a reaction moment depending on the relative orientations between the nodes.
Note
New flexjoints components may be created by clicking the arrow placed on the right hand side of the Link button placed in the tool bar, and then by selecting the flexjoint item, as illustrated below :
Flexjoints may be used to connect line ends to other objects or any couple of objects.
Each flexjoint is characterized by a number of data, which can be split as follows.
-
General data : use this tab to specify the name of your flexjoint, and the two end nodes to which the flexjoint is to be connected.
-
Bending Properties : use this tab to define bending behaviour, i.e. constant, multi-linear or non-linear stiffness, etc.
-
Torsion Properties : use this tab to define torsional behaviour, i.e. constant or multi-linear stiffness.
-
Control : use this tab to specify control command (filter) properties
-
Drawing : use this tab define all the geometrical parameters used to display the flexjoint in the 3D view window.
When a flexjoint element is created, the following panel displays:
