Equipment properties

Each equipment component must be given a number of parameters that will be used during the calculation, as follows (the list of parameters is the same whatever the type of equipment) :

  • Dry weight: the mass in air (in N)

  • Apparent weight: weight in water (in N)

  • Hydraulic diameter: Overall diameter used for the calculation of the drag and added mass.

  • Normal and axial inertia coefficients (used in the Morison formulation)

  • Normal and axial drag coefficients (used in the Morison formulation)

Note

The inertia coefficient Cm is equal to Ca + 1, where Ca is the added mass coefficient.
