Home > Model Components > BOP Stack > Elements
Elements
The Elements tab allows to define elements attached to the BOP Stack such as Pods, Beams and Tubes which can be used to check the minimum distance with the flexible lines during the simulation and detect potential contact.
The list of elements currently attached to the BOP Stack component is presented in the grid on the left side of the window.
-
New elements can be created by clicking the Add Element button.
-
Elements properties can then be modified once created by clicking the Edit Element button.
-
Elements can finally be deleted by pressing the Delete Element button which will remove the active row from the grid displaying the list of elements attached to the BOP Stack component.
To create new elements :
-
Click the Add Element button. A new window presenting all parameters defining the element displays.
-
Define the name of the element in the Edit name edit box.
-
Select the type of element. Elements may be either Pods, Beams or Tubes.
-
Set the XYZ local coordinates of the points defining the plane (for pods and beams) or tube.
-
Once created all elements attached to the BOP Stack component will display in the 3D View window.
The minimum distance between the lines and the elements will be reported in the Results Summary table available from the post-processing module.
Warning
The minimum distance is reported in the Results Summary table when distances are positive. The name of the elements with which contact occurs is reported otherwise.
